Shampoo, conditioner and a rinse-off mask are one IFRA category; a hair oil, serum, cream or dry shampoo is another, and the ceiling differs between the two for most oils. These oils are composed to read clean through a surfactant base and to stay with the hair once it dries. On each oil's page, brands among our customers say how it wore.
Your ceiling, on every oil
Each oil's IFRA sheet states the most of it a shampoo may carry, and the most a leave-on product may. Those figures sit on the oil's page beside its flash point and its allergen statement, dated and sourced. The numbers for all 72 are in the table further down, for when you're comparing.
Common questions
Will a fragrance oil cloud a clear shampoo?
A clear surfactant base carries a small share of oil before it turns hazy, and where that line sits depends on your base, so test at your dose. For a product with no surfactant, ask about a water-soluble concentrate.
Rinse-off or leave-on: which ceiling applies?
Shampoo, conditioner and a rinse-off mask take the rinse-off figure; hair oil, serum, cream and dry shampoo take the leave-on one. Both are in the table further down.
Will the fragrance weigh hair down?
No. At a typical rate the fragrance is a small share of the product; the feel comes from your base. Starting rates are on our Fragrance Oil Calculator.
Can the same oil scent a shampoo, its conditioner and a body wash?
Yes. A line is usually one oil across the range. Each product is its own category, so the ceiling changes; the table has them together.
What goes on my label for a scalp-contact product?
Parfum, plus any allergen the oil declares that is above threshold at your concentration. Each oil's allergen statement lists them with their share.
Can you compose a hair-care scent that is only ours?
Yes. Private Stock composes an original fragrance to your brief, with the same perfumer.

Who makes these oils
Every oil here carries the name of the perfumer who composed it. Our perfumers are a small, hand-picked group who work to one standard, set by Cécile Hua. Each oil is compounded in the United States to its reference, checked batch by batch, and released with a Certificate of Analysis.
Every oil's numbers for hair care: IFRA maximums, flash point, allergens, documents
Each figure is transcribed from the oil's own documents as served on its page on October 27, 2026: the IFRA 51st Amendment Regulatory Data Sheet (the maximum for each product category, and the EU Annex III allergens it declares) and the Safety Data Sheet (flash point). Category 7A is rinse-off hair products, 7B leave-on hair products, 9 rinse-off body wash and soap, 5A body lotion. An IFRA maximum is the ceiling for that category, not a usage recommendation; the typical rate our Fragrance Oil Calculator publishes for shampoo and conditioner is under 2%. A dash means the sheets do not give that figure.

Yes. The same oil scents a candle, a soap, a lotion, a perfume or a room, within the ceiling its IFRA sheet gives for that product category. The sheet lists all twelve categories; the table above carries the ones this page's brands read first.
Are they suited to a small launch and a larger one?
Both. Buy by the ounce to test and by the pound to produce, with no minimum and no lead time. Every batch is compounded to the same reference and released with its Certificate of Analysis, so what you sampled is what you scale.
