Amber & Musk Fragrance Oils

Our amber and musk fragrance oils are finished compositions — top, heart and base already in place — formulated by perfumer Cécile Hua, for perfume, body oil and home fragrance built on a warm, lasting base. A clean musk that reads like warm skin, an amber of resins, vanilla and labdanum, soft woods underneath: the base a perfumer reaches for when a scent has to last. Every oil is available by the ounce or pound with no minimum, no lead time. Tell us what you're making, or browse.

Musk and amber, what each one is

A musk fragrance oil is built on the clean, skin-like musk molecules modern perfumery uses — no animal is involved — and reads soft, radiant and close. An amber is warmer and sweeter: resins, vanilla and labdanum, often with a little spice, the smell most people mean by warm. Together, with woods and balsams, they make the base that carries a fragrance for hours. On each oil's page, brands among our customers say what they made and how it wore.

Your ceiling, on every oil

A perfume, a body oil and a candle each have their own ceiling on the oil's IFRA sheet, dated and sourced on the oil's page beside its flash point and its allergen statement. The table further down lists the ceilings for all 21 for when you're comparing.

Common questions

Is the musk natural?

No musk in modern perfumery comes from an animal; these oils use the clean musk molecules the whole industry uses, which is why they are vegan and cruelty-free. Each oil's page lists its claims.

Which is best for an amber musk body oil?

The oils here with a creamy or vanillic heart over musk wear closest to skin in a carrier oil. On each oil's page, brands that made a body oil say how it read; the perfume ceiling applies and is in the table further down.

Will amber discolor a white lotion or soap?

The vanilla and resin materials that make an amber warm can brown a light base over days. Each oil's page carries brands' own reports on colour; a test in your own base settles it.

Do these throw well in a candle?

Amber and musk are base materials, so they throw slowly and warmly rather than brightly; give a test candle an hour. The candle ceiling is in the table further down, and the starting rate on our Fragrance Oil Calculator.

How long do they last on skin?

Longest of any family: the base is the part of a perfume that stays. Brands' own reports on each oil's page say how long.

Can you compose our own amber or musk?

Yes. Private Stock composes an original fragrance to your brief, by the same perfumer, and it stays yours to reorder.

Who makes these oils

Every oil here carries the name of the perfumer who composed it. Our perfumers are a small, hand-picked group who work to one standard, set by Cécile Hua. Each oil is compounded in the United States to its reference, checked batch by batch, and released with a Certificate of Analysis.

Every oil's numbers for amber and musk products

Each figure is transcribed from the oil's own documents as served on its page on October 27, 2026: the IFRA 51st Amendment Regulatory Data Sheet (the maximum the oil may be used at in each product category, and the EU Annex III allergens it declares) and the Safety Data Sheet (flash point). An IFRA maximum is the ceiling for that category, not a usage recommendation; the typical rates brands start from are published on our Fragrance Oil Calculator. A dash means the sheets do not give that figure.

Can these oils go into other products?

Yes. The same oil scents a candle, a soap, a lotion, a perfume or a room, within the ceiling its IFRA sheet gives for that product category. The sheet lists all twelve categories; the table above carries the ones this page's brands read first.

Are they suited to a small launch and a larger one?

Both. Buy by the ounce to test and by the pound to produce, with no minimum and no lead time. Every batch is compounded to the same reference and released with its Certificate of Analysis, so what you sampled is what you scale.

Where do I find the IFRA and SDS documents?

On each oil's page, dated, and linked in the table above: the IFRA sheet, the Safety Data Sheet and the allergen statement. For a combined file or a document not shown there, use our document request page. To read further, our fragrance education pages.
