Playful & Fun Fragrance Oils

Our playful and fun fragrance oils are finished compositions — top, heart and base already in place — formulated by perfumer Cécile Hua, for candles, body care and perfume that are meant to be fun. Candy and sparkling fruit, creamy novelty accords, unusual pairings that make a person look up: these are the oils for a product line with personality, each one as carefully built as our most serious. Every oil is available by the ounce or pound with no minimum, no lead time. Tell us what you're making, or browse.

Playful, novelty and unusual scents, built properly

A novelty fragrance oil fails when it smells like a joke after the first minute. These are composed with a real top, heart and base, so a candy accord has a dry-down, a sparkling citrus has somewhere to go, and an unusual pairing — cucumber and tonka, pineapple and smoke — stays interesting through the burn or the wear. On each oil's page, brands among our customers say what they made and how it landed.

Your ceiling, on every oil

Fun is not a category on an IFRA sheet; a candle, a lip balm and a body wash are. Each oil's sheet states how much of it your product may carry, dated and sourced on the oil's page, and the table further down lists the ceilings for all 23 for when you're comparing.

Common questions

What makes a fragrance oil playful?

Brightness and surprise: a candy or fruit accord up top, a creamy or sparkling heart, and a pairing nobody expects. The difference between playful and silly is the base — ours have one, so the scent holds together on skin or in a candle.

Do novelty scents throw well in a candle?

The sweet and fruity materials in this style diffuse readily, which is why so many candle brands pick from this page. The candle ceiling is on each oil's page and in the table further down; a test pour in your own wax answers the throw.

Are they too sweet for skin care?

Not at a lotion or body-wash rate. On each oil's page, brands that used it in body care say how it read; the lotion ceiling is in the table further down.

Can I blend two of them?

Yes. Each oil is a finished composition, so two together behave like two perfumes layered: test a small batch first, and keep the sum under each oil's ceiling for your product.

How much fragrance oil should I use?

The typical starting rates by product are on our Fragrance Oil Calculator; the limit is the oil's IFRA maximum for your product in the table further down.

Can you compose a novelty scent that is only ours?

Yes. Private Stock composes an original fragrance to your brief, however unusual the brief is.

Who makes these oils

Every oil here carries the name of the perfumer who composed it. Our perfumers are a small, hand-picked group who work to one standard, set by Cécile Hua. Each oil is compounded in the United States to its reference, checked batch by batch, and released with a Certificate of Analysis.

Every oil's numbers for playful products

Each figure is transcribed from the oil's own documents as served on its page on October 27, 2026: the IFRA 51st Amendment Regulatory Data Sheet (the maximum the oil may be used at in each product category, and the EU Annex III allergens it declares) and the Safety Data Sheet (flash point). An IFRA maximum is the ceiling for that category, not a usage recommendation; the typical rates brands start from are published on our Fragrance Oil Calculator. A dash means the sheets do not give that figure.

Can these oils go into other products?

Yes. The same oil scents a candle, a soap, a lotion, a perfume or a room, within the ceiling its IFRA sheet gives for that product category. The sheet lists all twelve categories; the table above carries the ones this page's brands read first.

Are they suited to a small launch and a larger one?

Both. Buy by the ounce to test and by the pound to produce, with no minimum and no lead time. Every batch is compounded to the same reference and released with its Certificate of Analysis, so what you sampled is what you scale.

Where do I find the IFRA and SDS documents?

On each oil's page, dated, and linked in the table above: the IFRA sheet, the Safety Data Sheet and the allergen statement. For a combined file or a document not shown there, use our document request page. To read further, our fragrance education pages.

What brands tell us

Verified buyers, in their own words on the oil's page; the newest first.

  • Aphrodisiac · Teresa · September 2026 · made perfume, personal care, CP soap, candles · “Another amazing fragrance oil! The combination of the scent notes compliment each other. My customers absolutely love this in all my products that I make with it! Cold process soap & lotion are my best sellers with Aphrodisiac.”
  • Cashmere Wood · Twila S. · September 2026 · made personal care · “New favorite in my line up. Men love this. I actually combined this with another scent and it elevates the experience.”
  • Hibiscus · Loretta R. · September 2026 · made perfume, cosmetics, personal care, laundry & cleaning · “So pretty and fresh. It isn't an overwhelming floral that triggers some of my fragrance sensitivities.”
  • Lust · Tiffany H. · August 2026 · made cosmetics · “I used this fragrance in my whipped shea butters and it was a hit! I have many ladies that tell me they put it on a night which pairs well with a beautiful piece of lingerie. 😉”
  • Hibiscus · Ezinwanne U. · August 2026 · made personal care · “I enjoyed this fragrance. It is one of the few where I was able to smell the tart scent of dried hibiscus. That isn’t the only thing you get, it reminds me of a tropical body wash without the coconut”
  • Chlorophyll · Robin M. · August 2026 · made personal care · “It is not exactly what I think of as chlorophyl but it is lovely.”
  • Lust · Roro · June 2026 · made perfume, cosmetics, personal care · “Ive had this one for a couple years now because I bought a big one and didn’t want to run out in case they didn’t have it again. It smells just as fresh and potent as it did the first time I opened it <3”
  • Alpenglow · Denisse D. · June 2026 · “I can’t stop smelling this scent!! It’s so unique (in the most fantastic way) will definitely be back for more!”
