Fragrance Oils for Candles & Wax Melts
Candle fragrance oils that throw when the wax is hot and still read when it is cold: finished compositions by perfumer Cécile Hua, top to base, that hold their character at a candle's dosage and in a wax melt. The flash point and the category 12 ceiling are on every oil's page, dated, and verified buyers who poured with it say how it threw. By the ounce to test a pour and by the pound to run a line, no minimum, no lead time. Tell us what you're pouring, or browse.

A candle fragrance has two jobs: read on the shelf unlit, and fill the room once the wax is burning. These oils are composed with both in mind, for soy, coconut, paraffin and blended waxes, and for melts. Only a pour in your wax shows how an oil throws there, so on each oil's page, candle brands among our customers say what they poured and how it threw.
Your ceiling, on every oil
Each oil's IFRA sheet states how much of it a candle or a wax melt may carry, and most may be used generously. The exact figure is on the oil's page, beside the flash point from its Safety Data Sheet. The numbers for all 72 are in the table further down, for when you're comparing; once you've chosen, the oil's own page is where to read them.
Common questions
How much fragrance oil goes in a candle?
Start from the typical rate on our Fragrance Oil Calculator, and stay within the ceiling on the oil's IFRA sheet.
Will it throw in soy?
Soy holds fragrance differently from paraffin and coconut, and every blend is its own case. On each oil's page, candle brands say which wax they used and how it threw.
What does the flash point mean for me?
The temperature at which the oil's vapour can ignite in a laboratory test, from its Safety Data Sheet. It governs how the oil ships and is stored.
Do wax melts use the same ceiling?
Yes. A melt is a non-skin-contact product like a candle, so the same figure on the oil's IFRA sheet applies.
Can I make a room spray or a reed diffuser with the same oil?
Yes. Each is its own category on the oil's IFRA sheet. A water-based spray wants a solubiliser or our water-soluble line.
Can you compose a candle scent that is only ours?
Yes. Private Stock composes an original to your brief, with the same perfumer.

Who makes these oils
Every oil here carries the name of the perfumer who composed it. Our perfumers are a small, hand-picked group who work to one standard, set by Cécile Hua. Each oil is compounded in the United States to its reference, checked batch by batch, and released with a Certificate of Analysis.
Every oil's numbers for candles: IFRA maximum, flash point, verified candle reviews, documents
Each figure is transcribed from the oil's own documents as served on its page on October 27, 2026: the IFRA 51st Amendment Regulatory Data Sheet (the maximum for each product category) and the Safety Data Sheet (flash point); the review columns count the verified buyers on the oil's page who said they made candles with it and the strength they reported. Category 12 is non-skin-contact products (candles, wax melts, incense, dry-air devices), 10A reed diffusers and non-spray air care, 10B room and fabric sprays. An IFRA maximum is the ceiling for that category, not a usage recommendation; the typical rate our Fragrance Oil Calculator publishes for candles is 6–10% of the wax. A dash means the documents do not give that figure or no buyer has said so yet.

Can these oils go into other products?
Yes. The same oil scents a candle, a soap, a lotion, a perfume or a room, within the ceiling its IFRA sheet gives for that product category. The sheet lists all twelve categories; the table above carries the ones this page's brands read first.
Are they suited to a small launch and a larger one?
Both. Buy by the ounce to test and by the pound to produce, with no minimum and no lead time. Every batch is compounded to the same reference and released with its Certificate of Analysis, so what you sampled is what you scale.
Where do I find the IFRA and SDS documents?
On each oil's page, dated, and linked in the table above: the IFRA sheet, the Safety Data Sheet and the allergen statement. For a combined file or a document not shown there, use our document request page. To read further, our fragrance education pages.
