A cold process fragrance goes into a high-pH batter at trace, survives saponification and a cure of weeks, and has to come out of the mould smelling like itself. These oils are composed to hold through that. Every recipe behaves its own way, so test in yours first; on each oil's page, soap brands among our customers say what they made, whether trace moved, and how the bar cured.
Your ceiling, and what soap brands reported
Each oil's IFRA sheet states how much of it a bar of soap may carry. That figure sits on the oil's page beside its flash point and its Safety Data Sheet. The table further down lists it for all 72, with what cold process brands reported on acceleration, discoloration and ricing, for when you're comparing; once you've chosen, the oil's own page is where to read them.
Common questions
Will it accelerate trace?
Some oils do, in some recipes. On each oil's page, cold process brands say whether trace moved for them; the table further down counts those reports for every oil.
Will it discolour the bar?
Browning shows over the cure, from a few materials rather than the oil as a whole. Brands' reports on the oil's page, counted in the table, say which oils they saw it with.
What is ricing?
Grainy lumps forming in the batter when the oil hits it, from a material that does not stay dissolved in that recipe. The table counts those reports, oil by oil.
How much goes in a batch?
Start from the typical rate on our Fragrance Oil Calculator, and stay within the ceiling on the oil's IFRA sheet.
Do hot process and melt-and-pour use the same ceiling?
Yes. Any rinse-off soap shares one category on the oil's IFRA sheet, so the figure applies to all three.
Can you compose a soap scent that is only ours?

Who makes these oils
Every oil here carries the name of the perfumer who composed it. Our perfumers are a small, hand-picked group who work to one standard, set by Cécile Hua. Each oil is compounded in the United States to its reference, checked batch by batch, and released with a Certificate of Analysis.
Every oil's numbers for cold process soap: IFRA maximum, flash point, what soapmakers reported, documents
Each figure is transcribed from the oil's own documents as served on its page on October 27, 2026: the IFRA 51st Amendment Regulatory Data Sheet (the maximum for each product category) and the Safety Data Sheet (flash point); the review columns are counts from the verified buyers' reviews on the oil's page that name cold process soap, as the page tallies them. Category 9 is rinse-off soap, body wash and hand soap; 5A body lotion. An IFRA maximum is the ceiling for that category, not a usage recommendation; the typical rate our Fragrance Oil Calculator publishes for soap is 1–3% of the finished product. A dash means the documents do not give that figure or no soapmaker has reviewed yet.

Yes. The same oil scents a candle, a soap, a lotion, a perfume or a room, within the ceiling its IFRA sheet gives for that product category. The sheet lists all twelve categories; the table above carries the ones this page's brands read first.
Are they suited to a small launch and a larger one?
Both. Buy by the ounce to test and by the pound to produce, with no minimum and no lead time. Every batch is compounded to the same reference and released with its Certificate of Analysis, so what you sampled is what you scale.
