General Target Clean Policies

1. Ingredient Restrictions: Target Clean products must be free from certain chemicals and ingredients often associated with health and environmental concerns. This includes:
   • Parabens
   • Phthalates
   • Formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing agents
   • Sulfates (SLS, SLES)
   • Synthetic fragrances in some cases
   • Triclosan, triclocarban, and coal tar
2. Transparency and Labeling: Target promotes transparency by requiring brands to clearly label all ingredients, allowing consumers to make informed choices.
3. Sustainability: Brands are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices, from sourcing eco-friendly ingredients to using recyclable or minimal packaging.

Target Clean Policies for Fragrance

1. Fragrance Transparency: Products labeled with Target Clean for fragrance must disclose all fragrance components rather than listing "fragrance" as a single, ambiguous ingredient.
2. Restricted Ingredients: Fragrances must be free of phthalates, a group of chemicals often used in synthetic fragrances to extend scent longevity but associated with health concerns.
3. Natural Fragrances: Many Target Clean fragrance products use natural or naturally derived fragrance ingredients, offering an alternative to synthetics.
